Jewish organizers aim to boot Bowman out of New York seat

(JNS) Teach Action, which is affiliated with the Orthodox Union’s Teach Coalition, has launched a strategy to keep Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) from returning to the U.S. House of Representatives: encourage voters to temporarily join the Democratic Party to vote against the anti-Israel politician in the primary election. The initiative calls itself Westchester Unites and has sent out text messages to largely Jewish voters. It also sent a letter by mail that reads, “Anti-semitism is on the ballot, and we need a member of Congress who will stand up for our Jewish community” and “Send a message that our community stands together.”

The messages do not mention Bowman by name. Neither do they include his primary opponent, George Latimer, who has vocally supported the Jewish state.

Residents of the district have until Feb. 14 to switch their voter registration to Democrat.

Bowman apologized for his full-throated endorsement of Hamas supporter Norman Finklestein but recently lost the support of J Street amid his accusing Israel of genocide in relation to Palestinian civilians in Gaza amid the war there.
