Today the Black Lives Matter mural project began as participants began painting the words BLACK LIVES MATTER with bright yellow paint situated directly in front of Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan
“That Black people built New York City, that they’ve never been compensated for all they did, that all the mistakes, the sins, everything in American history that has afflicted Black people have not been accounted for and must be accounted for – something he does not understand,” he said last month. “So it is right to take the eyes of the world, the attention of the world right there on Fifth Avenue and focus on Black Lives Matter., Mayor de Blasio declared.
Earlier last week president Trump attacked de Blasio’s Black Lives Matter mural and particularly where the location is.
” He is going to paint a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue, denigrating this luxury Avenue,” and also he predicted that doing so would “further antagonize” the New York Police Department, which, he said “vividly” remembers the “horrible BLM chant, ‘Pigs in A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon.”
According to CBS New York, Fifth Avenue will be closed between 56th and 57th streets until Sunday morning to finish the mural.
The Jewish Voice was on scene at Trump Tower and captured the words being painted in yellow paint on the street and the accompanying scene of media, BLM supporters, counter protesters debating with supporters & The Naked Cowboy ( the popular Times Square performance artist)
One Black Lives Matter supporter came on camera with The Jewish Voice and demanded reparations.
A counter protester spoke to TJV. Karen Lichtbraun , chapter chairwoman of Yad Yamin of NY said ” I came to do observe the event, I saw the workers from the DOT painting and some others joining in, she asked them why don’t all lives matter too? I let them know that it’s insulting to only paint BLM, It’s important to point out the blatant antisemitism within the movement, I told them this is only going to exacerbate tension, the antisemitism in BLM movement is not being addressed by the media, it’s important to educate people, BLM is rooted in Anti-Americanism and antisemitism, I had to speak out”
