(A7) Thousands of people turned out to pay their respects to Rabbi Yitzhak Tuvia Weiss, the Ga’avad of the Eidah Hachareidit of Jerusalem, during his funeral procession in Jerusalem Sunday morning.

The Eidah Hachareidit announced that Sunday would be a day off from work and school in all of its communities to allow residence to attend the funeral.

This morning, Rabbi Weiss’ close associates gathered on Givat Moshe Street in Jerusalem and crowned his only son Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Weiss to serve as rabbi of his father’s Beit Midrash and president of the Kolel.

Many streets have been blocked in Jerusalem to make way for the funeral procession. Traffic jams have occurred as a result, and drivers are instructed to find alternate routes.

Earlier this morning, there were clashes between a group of hareim who came to participate in the funeral procession and police forces near the rabbi’s house in Jerusalem. The extremists called the police “Nazis” and “murderers”.

Rabbi Wiess passed away on Shabbat at the age of 95. His funeral procession began at 10 am. He is to be buried in the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
