(TJV NEWS) In a dramatic escalation of its ongoing military offensive against Iran, the Israeli Air Force bombed the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), in Tehran early Monday, June 16, 2025. The strike came shortly after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an unprecedented warning urging residents of a northern district in Tehran to evacuate “immediately.”

As the bombing began, an IRIB anchor was seen fleeing the studio live on air, with debris and smoke engulfing the broadcast before the feed cut out. Footage of the moment quickly circulated on social media, capturing a rare and chaotic glimpse of war reaching deep into Iran’s capital.

Despite the damage, Iranian state media resumed broadcasting shortly afterward, defiantly declaring that Israel’s attack would not silence the voice of the Islamic Republic.

“The Zionist regime, the enemy of the Iranian nation, minutes ago conducted a military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran news network,” IRIB senior official Hassan Abedini said, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
“The regime was unaware of the fact that the voice of the Islamic revolution and the great Iran will not be silenced with a military operation.”

The Israeli military confirmed the strike, calling the broadcaster a tool of regime propaganda and incitement. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the attack was part of a broader campaign to dismantle Iran’s military and ideological infrastructure.

“The Iranian regime’s propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority was struck by the IDF following a wide-scale evacuation of local residents,” Katz said.
“We will strike the Iranian dictator everywhere.”

The strike on IRIB comes amid one of the most intense phases yet in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, dubbed Operation Rising Lion by the IDF.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump weighed in on the situation, claiming Iran is signaling a desire to de-escalate and urging Tehran to act before suffering greater consequences.
