(TJV NEWS) Independent mayoral contender Andrew Cuomo is within striking distance of Democratic front-runner Zohran Mamdani, a new poll reveals — just a day before New Yorkers head to the polls.

The AtlasIntel survey, released Monday, shows Mamdani at 43.9% support, with Cuomo trailing closely at 39.4%. GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa remains in third at 15.5%, while just over 1% of voters are undecided or plan to skip the election, as NY Post reported.

In a hypothetical two-way matchup, Cuomo would edge out Mamdani 49.7% to 44.1%, highlighting just how razor-thin the race has become.

Cuomo, seen campaigning in Washington Heights Monday wearing a “Cuomo For Mayor” sweatshirt and pumping his fist, is clearly energizing voters, NY Post noted.

Analysts caution the poll may overestimate Republican and independent turnout while undercounting Democrats. Early voting shows Democrats making up just over 73% of ballots cast, Republicans around 11%, and independents just under 15%. The AtlasIntel poll, by contrast, projects 59% Democrats, 19% Republicans, and nearly 22% independents.

The survey comes a day after the same poll had Cuomo trailing Mamdani by six points — signaling a race that could go down to the wire.
