As several major fires wreak havoc on the Los Angeles, California area, locals are reporting witnessing people commit arson throughout the city.

Popular podcast host and Stanford Medicine Professor of Neurobiology & Ophthalmology Andrew Huberman, Ph.D. filmed a group of people allegedly lighting a fire in an urban area of Santa Monica Wednesday night.

“People are lighting fires in otherwise non-burning urban areas of LA. Saw this happen first hand at 302 Pico in Santa Monica. Called it in & fire dept & police responded. Stay safe and call in any activity ASAP. We don’t need more flames out here,” he wrote on 𝕏.

Dr. Huberman shared footage of trees catching fire near a parking lot where citizens reportedly started the small blaze.

The Los Angeles Fire Department eventually arrived and put out the fire, which was just across the street from Belmar Park.

Over 16 miles away from Belmar Park, locals called 911 to report witnessing a group of men wearing ski masks setting multiple fires.

Further north, a major fire in Studio City was filmed by an ABC7 Los Angeles helicopter.

“This is a completely separate part of town,” said a reporter riding in the aircraft.

“Tragically, the arsonists have arrived in LA,” wrote LA resident Shaun Maguire in response to the news coverage.

Another Citizen app notification revealed police responded to reports of a woman setting fire to a tumbleweed near a bus stop on Wednesday evening.

𝕏 owner Elon Musk stated, “Arson is a real possibility.”
