Tel Aviv – A young woman filed a complaint at the Yarkon Police station against a man who deceived her for months while posing as a girl on the internet.
The man, who pretended to be a girl named Sivan, developed a virtual romantic relationship with the complainant for several months, during which time he acquired her faith and through emotional manipulation managed to get her to give him a large sum of money and two expensive cell phones.
After the complaint was filed, the police launched an investigation in coordination with the complainant. A meeting was set up with the suspect, during which he was supposed to receive additional money from her while the police were waiting for him. Upon his arrival at the meeting, the suspect was arrested and taken in for questioning.
The suspect (37, Herzliya) will be brought today to the Tel Aviv District Court for an appeal filed by the police on the decision of the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to release him to house arrest.
